Fortuna Wines was started in 2011 by Miguel Posada and his family. Fortuna produces several wines from different regions and DO of Spain, with a focus on wines from indigenous varietals. With origins in Castilla y Leon, Alia's flagship wines are based on the famed Prieto Picudo varietal- a densely-clustered, blue-black grape that lends itself to rich, spicy well-structured wines.
Alaia Verdejo (DO Rueda): lush and tropical with a rich mouthfeel balanced by bright acidity. A great match for shellfish ceviche, fresh tomato, or other sharp flavors.
Alaia Red "Marisa" (Prieto Picudo/Tempranillo): Deep and spicy, with rich mouthfeel, gentle tannins and cherry/plum fruit. Cold-macerated for around 10 days, then fermented and aged for several months in French oak.
