ORGANIC

L’Isle Jourdain is the product of a close collaboration between vigneron Tony Brulin, winemaker Jérôme Loisy and the Feray family, who proudly own the Estate, along with the famed domaines of Petit Coteau, Moncontour, Vaugondy and Le Grand Boutueteau. The family Estate sits on a hillside on the north side of the Loire River in the Village of Vernou-sur-Brenne, 7.5 miles east of Tours.

The Feray family, Jérôme and Tony all have a deep respect for the health of the land, their 40 year old Chenin vines, the flora and fauna who live in and around their vineyards and the people who work there. They use certified organic farming methods, and minimal intervention in both in the vineyard and winery. Their rows are grassed over and filled with wildflowers in the summer. Plots are plowed and no herbicide or insecticides are used. Grapes are hand harvested.

From vineyard management to winemaking, everything is as natural as possible and there is a real effect between the vine and the wine, it’s undeniable! In our cuvées, the expression of the terroir is more marked, these wines have character and more personality.
— Jerome Loisy, Maitre du Chai

In the winery, Jérôme continues to employ natural methods, allowing the full expression of work done in the vineyard. The wines benefit from all of this care.  In Jérôme’s words, “…these wines have more character and personality. There is what I call depth and very nuanced aromas…the farming technique and terroir expresses itself fully. All this is possible though careful vigilance with regard to the vagaries of the weather, personal commitment and flawless teamwork.”
