Whippletree
Founded in 2016 in Tamworth NH, just north of Lake Winnepesaukee, Whippletree Winery is the brainchild of Lauren Barrett and her friend Yvonne Staples. Their goal is to produce a full range of grape-based, fruit-infused wines filled with cheer, honesty and the flavors of a New England harvest.
Whippletree wines are handcrafted with minimal processing to produce the cleanest, most natural wines possible. Several are traditional varietal wines (Bossy Chard, Ren Zin), but for their signature wines, Whippletree uses grapes imported from several global regions, combined with New England’s finest ripe fruits.
Lauren Barrett, the owner and winemaker, trained in the south of France, which led her to create her signature “kir” style wines which are the perfect marriage of grape wine blended with ripe fruit. Her wines are balanced and dimensional with fine-tuned viscosity, color and aroma, and have garnered multiple awards.
“Whippletree Winery is nestled off the beaten path in Tamworth, NH [...] in a cozy and inviting rescued lake-house previously owned by the inventor of the snowmobile, Virgil D. White.”

“We just felt like we were visiting a friend’s place; that’s the best way I can describe Whippletree Winery. You know their wine is good when you head home with five bottles after your tasting!
We loved everything about this winery. As soon as we got off the car, we were welcomed by the staff, who invited us in and asked where we were visiting from. They were so friendly!
They do it all — reds and whites and roses and everything else in between. Their fruit wines were some of the best we’ve ever had. This place is just incredible. Don’t miss it if you’re in the area!”
