Alice, the Rabbit, the Dormouse and the Mad Hatter at tea: John Tenniel

Winederful & Co

is the fruit of a collaboration between Elias Lopez Montero, the man behind Bodegas Verum, and our friends at Vinos Libres, one of our key Spanish wine suppliers. His 240 acres of vineyard sprawl across the highlands of Spain’s central plateau, about 90 minutes south of Madrid. The vineyards are at elevations of 2300 to 2700ft on limestone with overlays of sands and clays. The climate is continental with warm days and cool nights.

Montero’s philosophy is that great wine comes from great grapes… and to that end, he dry-farms his vineyards, grows his various indigenous grape varieties organically, harvests early to preserve natural acidity and provides a very light touch in the cellar. The result is fresh, joyful wines that sing of the sunny Meseta Meridional of Spain.

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don’t do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she’s ten feet tall...

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you’re going to fall
Tell ‘em a hookah-smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
He called Alice
When she was just small...

When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you’ve just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she’ll know...

When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen’s off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said:
Feed your head!
Feed your head!!!

the wines

The goal with the Winederful & Co line is to craft bright, clean wines that speak of the sun and soil of La Mancha, with minimal intervention and complication. Montero has achieved just that with these three little gems.

Chasing Conejos Blanco: 100% Airen, vinified in stainless steel; crisp and freshl

Que Hookah? Rosado: 100% Garnacha, bright and clean with notes of strawberry.

Did you know...

Airen is the highest-production grape in all of Europe! Only grown in La Mancha, it covers some 460,000 acres, producing some 200 million bottles of wine annually... a lot of which end up in Veneto bottled as cheap Pinot Grigio!

Viva Locos!! Tinto: 95% Tempranillo with 5% Syrah. Stainless. Bright and juicy with a touch of spice.

Windmills at Campo de Criptana- the same ones Cervantes’ Don Quixote was off tilting at!
